Champion Tutoring opened its doors in October 1994. Its founder, Audrey Menard, was a local middle-school math teacher who spent much of her time after classes working individually with students. As a teacher, Audrey had always believed in the importance of one-on-one learning, and this idea became the foundation of Champion Tutoring. We have since grown from a few teachers sharing one room and covering basic subjects—math, English, special education, and reading—to a suite of offices and a faculty of over two dozen expert and certified teachers capable of addressing most any subject or educational challenge. About half of our students come from area public schools, with some 40 percent coming from private schools. The remainder are home-schooled, taking correspondence courses, fulfilling core course requirements, and the like. We face new pedagogical tests in our second decade. In spring 2005, the format of the SAT changed, and we modified our curriculum accordingly. We are continuing to develop an SOL curriculum designed to aid students and parents with these important exams, and we are further refining our study skills program as well. Now led by Executive Director Dr. Anna C. Patchias, we remain committed to providing students and their parents with quality teaching, personal attention, and exceptional service. As we continue to grow, come see what we have to offer this academic year. |
