We encourage you to check it out! Champion Tutoring Celebrates 15 Years of Quality Education2009 marked Champion Tutoring’s 15th year providing top-quality individualized tutoring to students in the Charlottesville-Albemarle community. In 1994, a local middle-school math teacher began considering ways to address the varied learning styles of her classroom students. She founded Champion Tutoring on the premise that every child learns differently, and the company earned a well-deserved reputation for providing high-quality, one-on-one tutoring to students of all ages. Since its inception, Champion has grown from a handful of teachers and subjects to a staff of over 30, all of whom hold bachelor’s degrees, and many of whom are seeking advanced degrees. All tutors have considerable teaching experience and some work in local schools. Binding the staff together is their willingness to take a creative approach to teaching. Over the years, as Champion has moved to larger facilities and added new programs, it has remained true to its founding principles, and has proudly upheld the vision of a completely customized approach to the tutoring process. Champion is a family-owned business, not a chain or franchise. Director of Education Danielle DeRise believes this characteristic has helped distinguish the company from other area tutoring agencies, and is a chief reason why Champion has retained its exemplary reputation among families in the community. “In an education-focused town like Charlottesville,” DeRise says, “parents and students gravitate toward our friendly, personal touch. They appreciate our willingness to readily adapt to their pedagogical goals and hectic schedules.” Champion has always abided by a fee-for-service model, allowing students the flexibility to sign up only for the instruction they need, rather than committing to a predetermined tutoring schedule. |
